Report Cards & Assessment
The end of February is approaching, and teachers are beginning to think about Report Cards. When we write report cards, we are always keeping in mind the Manitoba Provincial Curriculum Documents, and are using these to guide our teaching and assessment.
We as teachers use assessment in three different ways:
If you have any questions about how I assess your child during this, or any other, time of year, please feel free to contact me by calling the school, or emailing me. If you want to schedule a meeting to talk in person, I am available most days after school.
Thanks!
Mr. Young
The end of February is approaching, and teachers are beginning to think about Report Cards. When we write report cards, we are always keeping in mind the Manitoba Provincial Curriculum Documents, and are using these to guide our teaching and assessment.
We as teachers use assessment in three different ways:
- Assessment of learning. (quizzes, conversations)
- Assessment as learning. (self-assessment or goal setting)
- Assessment for learning. (What does my assessment show that we need to work on?)
- Conversations/interviews with students about their learning.
- Anecdotal observations during class time.
- Formal assessments such as running records, number fact quizzes, and some work sheets.
- Pictures and videos of student work samples.
If you have any questions about how I assess your child during this, or any other, time of year, please feel free to contact me by calling the school, or emailing me. If you want to schedule a meeting to talk in person, I am available most days after school.
